What is the Political Courage Test?

Pennsylvania Congressional Election 2020 Political Courage Test

Pro-choice Do you generally support pro-choice or pro-life legislation?
It is a woman's right to decide what is best for her body and for her established or fundamental decisions. Health, finances or other factors may contribute to the decision. Others can not make viable or other choices for the individual because they are not in that position. Many factors impact the decision. We as a governmental unit should assist in providing a safe environment for healthcare without the threat of intimidation or fear of being harmed for a decision that solely rests upon the individual.
Yes In order to balance the budget, do you support an income tax increase on any tax bracket?
Yes Do you support expanding federal funding to support entitlement programs such as Social Security and Medicare?
I believe that these programs should be expanded because they assist our citizens. Money is doled out to foreign countries and massive amounts of money go to defense spending. Domestic spending should take priority over Defense, and foreign allocations. Because we are American citizens, priority should be given to those programs.
No Do you support the regulation of indirect campaign contributions from corporations and unions?
Corporations represent "Big Money" interests and they look for tax breaks.Whereas unions don't look for loop holes, they represent the working individuals. Moreover, corporations seek to gain political favors and influence by funding of this type. It simply should not be allowed to obstruct the democratic process.
No Do you support increasing defense spending?
Until we can gain a greater accountability from the Pentagon, I would not advocate increased Defense spending, when we can not account for approximately 15 trillion dollars that has gone amiss and has greatly impacted our national security and military state of readiness. Until such time, as we can properly account for and track our military spending to ensure proper and necessary defense allocations that impact our national security and readiness, I would not advocate an increase in spending. Whereas it is detrimental to our national security interests.
Yes Do you support federal spending as a means of promoting economic growth?
No Do you support lowering corporate taxes as a means of promoting economic growth?
Corporations do not pay their adequate share of taxes, commensurate to the resources that they draw from the communities that they work and do business in. By not paying into the tax base, corporations do not support the communities and state that they are doing business in. This leaves the citizens as the sole tax resource, as the tax payer to that community and state. This is unequivocally unfair.
Yes Do you support requiring states to adopt federal education standards?
It is imperative that we have uniformity in our educational standards and policies. To achieve the level of excellence needed to be competitive internationally, uniformity is required to eliminate the educational disparities in the continental fifty states. Without the uniformity the disparities in education will widen. All students should have access to STEAM programs in order to introduce them to technology in education and the workplace. All students, regardless of economic backgrounds should have access to computers and the internet in order to be academically prepared.
Yes Do you support government funding for the development of renewable energy (e.g. solar, wind, geo-thermal)?
Yes Do you support the federal regulation of greenhouse gas emissions?
The EPA as well as international data shows a need for central governmental regulations of green house gas emissions due to the impact of green house gases on climate change. These impacts have no greater example than the wild fires in Australia where greenhouse gases have impacted the environment causing these negative impacts. We can also see this type of negativity in the wild fires in California, Federal regulations are imperative.
Yes Do you generally support gun-control legislation?
It is imperative to have common sense gun legislation to lessen the effect of gun violence in our communities across the nation. Extending universal background checks to gun shows and private sells would be the next step in common sense gun law legislation.
No Do you support repealing the 2010 Affordable Care Act ("Obamacare")?
Absolutely not, Obamacare should not be repealed. Reason and rationale being, are the most poignant examples of the current COVIT-19 pandemic. People of lower strata income with preexisting conditions with little or no health insurance coverage are the brunt of virus cases and deaths due to the lack of adequate healthcare and health insurance coverage. Why would you want to eliminate what little resources are available to our citizens!
No Do you support the construction of a wall along the Mexican border?
No Do you support requiring immigrants who are unlawfully present to return to their country of origin before they are eligible for citizenship?
Constructing a wall along the Mexican border is an exaggerated and ineffective national security response. It is a complete waste of funding, and is ineffectual prior to it's construction. There are thousands of preexisting underground tunnels that have been in place years before the construction of the Border Wall, and would render the Wall an absolute waste of tax payer money. In addition, the wall is a violation of two treaties with the Republic of Mexico and the United States.
Yes Should the United States use military force to prevent governments hostile to the U.S. from possessing a weapon of mass destruction (for example: nuclear, biological, chemical)?
Yes Do you support reducing military intervention in Middle East conflicts?
Measured force response is essential to the resolution of Mid Eastern conflict where aide, diplomacy and joint United Nations peace keeping efforts can be a viable first option in place of military force.
No Do you generally support removing barriers to international trade (for example: tariffs, quotas, etc.)?
Trading partner countries subsidize their industries to produce cheaper and often inferior products at lower costs in U.S. markets. While the tariffs imposed by trade partner countries inflate the costs of the United States and international markets.
My top three priorities if elected are the: Economy (Health), Environment, and Education. The largest single boost to our economy is in repairing the infrastructure of our country (roads, bridges, side walks, locks, dams , and disturbed properties). In undertaking massive restorative projects set to strict federal guidelines, we can boost our economy. The high cost of healthcare must be addressed. Climate control was previously expressed. However, we also must limit the utilization of chemicals that impact the environment. Excellence in education is essential for this country to remain competitive on the international stage.
